How to invoice in Cyprus

A compliant Cypriot invoice must show your VAT registration number, a unique sequential invoice number, the issue date, your and your customer's name and address, a description of the goods or services, and for each line the net amount, the VAT rate applied and the VAT amount, plus the total payable. The standard VAT rate is 19%, with reduced rates of 9%, 5% and 3% for specific supplies. For B2B sales to businesses in other EU countries you must also show the customer's VAT number and the relevant exemption or reverse-charge wording.

  • VAT charged at the applicable Cyprus rate (standard 19%).
  • Intra-Community supply — exempt from VAT under Article 138 of Directive 2006/112/EC; the customer accounts for VAT in the country of destination.
  • Reverse charge — VAT to be accounted for by the recipient under Article 196 of Directive 2006/112/EC.

E-invoicing in Cyprus

As of July 2026 Cyprus has no B2B or B2C e-invoicing mandate; issuing e-invoices is voluntary and requires the buyer's agreement. Public-sector bodies have been required to receive EN 16931-compliant e-invoices since 2019 (central authorities from 18 April 2019, sub-central from 18 April 2020), with voluntary submission through Peppol Access Points or the Cyprus government gateway (gov.cy). Under the EU VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) reform, structured e-invoicing and digital reporting for intra-EU B2B transactions become mandatory from 1 July 2030.

Invoice Forever can export a structured EN 16931 / Peppol BIS (UBL) e-invoice alongside the PDF (beta) — the format most of these mandates are built on. You still send it via your own access point, and some countries require their own national format.
